All’s fair in love and basketball! Omar Epps and his former costar Sanaa Lathan reunited on Sunday, June 13, to celebrate the 15th anniversary of their beloved movie Love & Basketball.
The two actors got together in Los Angeles at the L.A. Film Festival, joining fellow cast members Glenndon Chatman, Dennis Haysbert, Kyla Pratt, Alfre Woodard, and director Gina Prince-Bythewood.
Epps, now 41, and Lathan, now 43, led the romantic drama as childhood sweethearts Quincy McCall and Monica Wright, respectively. The two played next-door neighbors with hoop dreams and a rocky romantic relationship.
The flick hit theaters in 2000, making $27.5 million at the domestic box office. While its haul was not huge, Love & Basketball quickly became a cult classic and took home a BET Award and NAACP Image Awards.
Lathan shared a shot from the event on her Instagram account, writing, “Play you for your heart? LA Film fest reunion last night. 15 year anniversary of #LOVEANDBASKETBALL.” She went on to post a shot of herself as a young woman in the movie, writing, “Now that’s a throwback. #loveandbasketball 15th anniversary.”
